Use coffee grounds in new ways
Hey, did you know that the coffee grounds from our Member’s Mark Fair Trade Certified™ coffee have some unique applications even after you’ve made your coffee? Take a look at these three great ways to use your old coffee grounds again:
Eliminate smells: Coffee has nitrogen in it, which is fantastic in getting rid of smells. To get rid of bad smells, just leave an open container of used grinds around. You may also make a small sachet to hang around your house or put in your car. Make sure that grounds are absolutely dry so that mold doesn’t grow. Oh, and here’s a cool tip: rub some old coffee grounds on your hands after you touch foods that smell strong, like garlic or onions. The smell will go away.
To make an exfoliator, mix the coffee grounds with some grainy sugar and your preferred oil. Scrub your wet skin with the concoction, and then rinse it off. Your skin will be grateful!
Use the grounds to scrub things that are hard to clean, such pots, pans, gardening equipment, or even the grates on your barbecue. The rough texture is great for getting rid of grease, tough stains, and food that has stuck to things.
Notes: After brewing, used coffee grounds still have some moisture in them, so make sure to store them in the fridge, freezer, or dry them out to keep mold from growing.
